“No one reads emails anyway, what’s the point in growing an email list?”
With social media the big omnipresent beast it is, it’s easy to think that it is THE way to communicate with your customers.
When you look at all the unread email in your inbox, and think about all those mailing lists you just unsubscribed from, you can be forgiven for thinking there’s just no point to email these days.
But…
When Facebook crashed for several hours last month, email proved its worth…
When algorithms change, email shows how reliable it is…
When your once-bustling social media group no longer sees interaction unless you pay for it, email gets its foot in the door…
I once signed up for a Marie Forleo course I didn’t need and couldn’t afford on the basis of one AMAZINGLY well-written email.
It was a joy to read. I read it at least 5 times, and actually got my credit card out to sign up!
I don’t actually like Marie Forleo. Don’t follow her on social media. Don’t really want to learn from her.
But that email nearly got me. Hook. Line. And credit card details.
ONE email almost got about $2000 dollars out of me. Only a last-minute intervention from the sensible part of my brain stopped me.
I bet lots of others read that email and gleefully got through to the confirmation email.
Which was probably a joy to read as well!
How much value could your email list bring?
